Chris Pronger - Oilers
The painful lockout did accomplish at least two things -- it picked up the pace of the game on ice, and it leveled the playing field to help smaller market teams keep their core players and even bring in established talent to help. Edmonton wasted no time landing favorite son Chris Pronger to solidify their defense. The longtime Blues captain left the Midwest behind and immediately became Edmonton's best player on the blue line. The revamped Oilers are contending in the Northwest Division and are only too happy to be playing in the "new NHL." * McFarlane NHL Series 12 * Paint: original paint * Colour as SHOWN * Scale: 6-inch * Format: action figure * Packaging: clamshellThe painful lockout did accomplish at least two things -- it picked up the pace of the game on ice, and it leveled the playing field to help smaller market teams keep their core players and even bring in established talent to help. Jeremy Roenick - Kings
The colorful center brought his hard-nosed style to Los Angeles -- helping the Kings grab the Pacific Division lead before a late-December finger injury pushed him to the shelf. "J.R." is expected to return in January, quite possibly with a vengeance. Roenick needs just 22 more goals to pass Joe Mullen as the highest scoring American-born player in NHL history. * McFarlane NHL Series 12 * Paint: original paint * Colour as SHOWN * Scale: 6-inch * Format: action figure * Packaging: clamshell

Alexi Kovalev - Montreal Canadiens
MCFARLANE’S SPORTS PICKS: NHL HOCKEY SERIES 19 Paint: original paint Scale: 6-inch Format: action figure Packaging: clamshell Measures 5 1/8 inches at top of helmet. Articulated at neck, wrists and knees. Includes stick and 6-inch wide by 3.5-inch deep custom base. On March 13, 2004 he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens for Jozef Balej and a second round selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. While only managing 3 points in 12 games in the regular season, Kovalev broke out in the 2003–2004 playoffs, where he registered six goals and ten points in eleven games for Montreal. As an Unrestricted Free Agent, he signed a four-year contract (worth $4.5 million per year) with Montreal on August 3, 2005 prior to the start of the 2005–06 NHL season. He scored his 300th career goal and recorded his 700th point on December 20, 2005 against Ottawa's Dominik Hašek in a dramatic 4–3 win. A popular moment for Kovalev among Canadiens fans occurred on March 25, 2006. With the Canadiens playing their hated rivals the Toronto Maple Leafs, Kovalev drove his elbow into Darcy Tucker's face while carrying the puck after circling several players. Tucker had attempted to elbow Kovalev in the face a few seconds before the incident. A brawl immediately ensued. It became a moment of almost cult-like status for Canadiens fans, as t-shirts were made with the image, desktop wallpapers, etc.

History of Televised Hockey and way before the internet

It was September of 1952 and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation was about to launch the first television stations in Canada. In anticipation of this, Imperial Oil, sponsor of Hockey Night in Canada on radio, had been engaged in talks with the CBC to begin televising hockey for the 1952-53 NHL season.

Although hockey on television was new to most Canadians, transmission of hockey games had occurred as far back as October 29, 1938 when the 2nd and 3rd periods of a game from Harringay arena in London, England were aired. On February 25, 1940, an experimental TV station in New York, W2XBS, broadcast a hockey game between the New York Rangers and the Montreal Canadiens to 300 fans. In November of 1946, KTLA in Los Angeles aired games from the Pacific Coast League and in the 1946-47 NHL season, the Rangers were the first NHL team to have their home games on television.

In preparation for the televising of hockey in Canada, an experimental video transmission of a Memorial Cup hockey game from Maple Leaf Gardens in April of 1952 took place. This telecast was a closed circuit viewing for the benefit of executives from CBC, Imperial Oil and the MacLarens advertising agency and all were impressed by Foster Hewitt's call of the game.

But not everyone was convinced that televising hockey games was a good thing. In a March 9, 1949 edition of the Hockey News, NHL President Clarence Campbell charged that the new entertainment medium (TV) was a definite threat to hockey and would keep fans at home instead of at the rinks. Campbell also thought that television's limited field of view would not be able to capture the fast end-to-end rushes that made hockey exciting to watch. However, according to an Imperial Oil Review article from the Spring of 1952, Conn Smythe, the president of Maple Leaf Gardens, disagreed that televising games was a menace to game attendance and he believed that hockey on television would eventually be a great salesman for the game. Even so, due to the potential for a slide in attendance because of televised games, HNIC would sign on at 9:30 pm each Saturday night that first season – one hour after the opening face-off. Games were picked up in progress midway through the second period.

For the 1952-53 season, Smythe asked Imperial Oil for only $100 as a fee for each televised game from Maple Leaf Gardens as he wanted to see how successful the new venture would be. After the great success of the first year, Smythe then sold the rights for $150,000 for a 3-year contract. By the early 1960s, the rights sold for $9 million over six years, or about $21,000 per game. Today, the rights per game can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a long and rich history, winning 13 Stanley Cups. They have the 2nd most championships, just ahead of Detroit Red Wings who have won 11.

The logo of the ice hockey team Toronto Maple Leafs has featured a maple leaf ever since the club received its current name more than 90 years ago. The leaf hasn’t been the same, though – both its shape and its colour have been changed more than once.

In 1980 the Atlanta Flames moved to Calgary.  Owner Nelson Skalbania chose to retain the Flames name, feeling it would be a good fit for an oil town like Calgary, while the flaming "A" logo was replaced by a flaming "C". The Edmonton Oilers logo is an iconic symbol of the team’s history and identity in the NHL. Since its introduction in 1972, the logo has remained essentially unchanged, solidifying its place as a recognizable emblem of the Oilers. There have been many variations over the year but this one is their main logo.

In 2024, the Oilers unveiled special cultural logo designs. There are four local designers. Pete Nguyen (Lunar New Year), AJA Louden (Celebrating Black History), Sunny Nerval (South Asian Celebration) and Lance Cardinal (Indigenous Celebration) worked with the Oilers to create the designs.

Montreal Canadiens NHL Puck

A storied franchise rivalled only by the New York Yankees. Montréal have won 23 Stanley Cups which is arguably the toughest championship to win.

One of sport's oldest and most recognizable logos, the classic 'C' and 'H' of the Montréal Canadiens was first used together in the 1917–18 season, when the club changed its name to "Club de hockey Canadien" from "Club athlétique Canadien", before evolving to its current form in 1952–53. The "H" stands for "hockey", not "Habitants," a popular misconception.

According to NHL.com, the first man to refer to the team as "the Habs" was American Tex Rickard, owner of the Madison Square Garden, in 1924. Rickard apparently told a reporter that the "H" on the Canadiens' sweaters was for "Habitants". In French, the "Habitants" nickname dates back to at least 1914, when it was printed in Le Devoir to report a 9–3 win over Toronto on the ninth of February.

These NHL Trophies are pre-owned and they're being sold as is. The photos are the actual piece of what you are buying.

The Art Ross Trophy is an annual award given "to the player who leads the NHL in scoring points at the end of the regular season."

Ross, the longtime manager-coach of the Boston Bruins, presented the trophy to the NHL in 1947. Elmer Lach of the Montreal Canadiens was the first winner in 1948.

Wayne Gretzky won the trophy an NHL-record 10 times, including seven in a row from 1980-81 through 1986-87 with the Edmonton Oilers. Gordie Howe and Mario Lemieux are next with six.

Connor McDavid of the Oilers has won it each of the past three seasons, and five of the past seven.

If two or more players finish the season with the same number of points, the trophy is awarded in the following manner: 1. Player with most goals; 2. Player with fewer games played; 3. Player scoring first goal of the season.

McDonalds 2003 Vezina Trophy replica (pre-owned)

McDonalds Corp started selling hockey cards in the 1990-91 season and they've moved onto other hockey collectibles. Collectors were initially caught off guard but now McDonald's collectibles are eagerly anticipated.

These NHL Trophies are pre-owned and they're being sold as is. The photos are the actual piece of what you are buying.

The Vezina Trophy is an annual award given "to the goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at this position" as voted by the general managers of all NHL clubs.

Leo Dandurand, Louis Letourneau, and Joe Cattarinich, former owners of the Montreal Canadiens, presented the trophy to the League in 1926-27 in memory of Canadiens goaltender Georges Vezina, who collapsed during an NHL game Nov. 28, 1925, and died of tuberculosis a few months later.

Through the 1980-81 season, the Vezina was awarded to the goaltender(s) who played a minimum of 25 games for the team allowing the fewest goals during the regular season. In 1981-82, Billy Smith of the New York Islanders was named the first winner of the Vezina under the current system.

Jacques Plante holds the record for most times winning the Vezina Trophy with seven, one more than Bill Durnan and Dominik Hasek. However, Hasek has won the most times under the current system of honoring the best individual goalie.

Canadiens goaltenders have won the Vezina 29 times, the most of any team. Under the original definition, there were occasionally multiple winners from the same team in the same season. In 1973-74, Tony Esposito of the Chicago Black Hawks and Bernie Parent of the Philadelphia Flyers shared the award when their teams finished tied for the fewest goals against; it's the only time there was a tie between players from different teams.

The James Norris Memorial Trophy is an annual award given "to the defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position." The winner is selected in a poll of the Professional Hockey Writers Association at the end of the regular season.

The trophy was presented to the NHL in 1953 by the four children of the late James E. Norris in memory of their father, owner-president of the Detroit Red Wings from 1932 to 1952. The first winner was Red Kelly of the Red Wings in 1954.

Bobby Orr of the Boston Bruins won the Norris for a record eight consecutive seasons (1968-75). Doug Harvey and Nicklas Lidstrom each won it seven times, and Ray Bourque won it five times during his career. The Bruins lead all teams with 14 Norris Trophy winners; the Montreal Canadiens are second with 12.

The Hart Memorial Trophy is an annual award given "to the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team." The winner is selected in a poll of the Professional Hockey Writers Association in all NHL cities at the end of the regular season.

The Hart Memorial Trophy was presented by the NHL in 1960 after the original Hart Trophy was retired to the Hockey Hall of Fame. The original trophy was donated to the NHL in 1923 by Dr. David A. Hart, father of Cecil Hart, former manager-coach of the Montreal Canadiens.

Wayne Gretzky won the award a record nine times during his career, including eight in a row from 1980-87. Gretzky (Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings) and longtime teammate Mark Messier (Oilers, New York Rangers) are the only players to win the Hart with more than one team. In 1990, Messier edged Ray Bourque of the Boston Bruins by two votes, the closest vote so far.

The Conn Smythe Trophy is an annual award given "to the most valuable player for his team in the playoffs." The winner is selected by the Professional Hockey Writers Association at the conclusion of the last game in the Stanley Cup Final.

The trophy was presented by Maple Leaf Gardens Limited in 1964 to honor Conn Smythe, the former coach, manager, president and owner-governor of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A total of 52 players have won the trophy, including Jean Beliveau of the Montreal Canadiens, who won the first, awarded in 1965. Patrick Roy is the only three-time winner. Five players -- Bobby Orr, Bernie Parent, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby -- have won it twice. Roy was the youngest to win; he was 20 when he did so with the Canadiens in 1986.

Five players have won the trophy as a member of the losing team in the Cup Final: Roger Crozier (1966, Detroit Red Wings), Glenn Hall (1968, St. Louis Blues), Reggie Leach (1976, Philadelphia Flyers), Ron Hextall (1987, Flyers), and Jean-Sebastien Giguere (2003, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim).

The Stanley Cup is the oldest professional sports trophy in North America. There are many numerous legends and traditions about the cup with one being drinking of champagne out of it by the winning team. Players who have never won the cup refuse to touch it because it could jinx them from ever winning it.

The Stanley Cup is commonly referred to as The Cup, The Holy Grail or as Lord Stanley's Mug.While the other major sports leagues make a new trophy every year, a new Stanley Cup is not made each year. Cup winners keep it until a new champion is crowned. The Stanley Cup is considered the most difficult Championship Trophy to win.

The hockey matches were played in Torino, Italy.

Lecavalier broke the all-time Tampa Bay Lightning record for most points in a season by scoring his 95th point on March 16, 2007,
against the Buffalo Sabres. The record was previously held by Martin St. Louis, who had 94 points during the 2003–04 NHL season.
His record of 108 points was since surpassed by future Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov, who recorded Art Ross trophy-winning
128 points (41 goals, 87 assists) during the 2018-19 NHL season and holds the record at this point.

On March 30, 2007, in a game against the Carolina Hurricanes, Lecavalier became the first Lightning player to record 50 goals in a season.
He finished the season with 52 goals, edging Ottawa's Dany Heatley, who scored 50 goals, to earn the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy as
the NHL's top goal scorer for the 2006–07 season.
